Thomas A. Mattioni, MD

Dr. Thomas A. Mattioni is a board-certified Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist widely regarded as a leading authority and innovator in electrophysiology, with more than four decades of expertise in cardiac rhythm management and implantable device therapy.

Dr. Mattioni currently serves as a physician with Atria Heart in collaboration with HonorHealth — a premier Phoenix-area cardiology practice within the Cardiovascular Associates of America (CVAUSA) network — and holds academic appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at both the University of Arizona College of Medicine and the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Mattioni earned his MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. He holds triple board certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, and is a Fellow of the ACC, ACP, and Heart Rhythm Society. He has served as principal investigator on more than 80 clinical trials — including CAST, MADIT, SCD-HeFT, and the PAD Trial — investigating devices and therapies now in widespread use.

As Medical Director of IronRod Health, Dr. Mattioni provides clinical oversight across IronRod’s remote patient monitoring and cardiac device management programs, ensuring our protocols reflect the highest standards of evidence-based cardiovascular care.
